Meet the parents

He’s asked you to come and meet the family during the holiday season. It can be nerve-wracking for any girl, especially for Rules Girls because this is very telling of his feelings for you. He’s pushing the relationship forward. It´s a sign that all is well and you’re doing a splendid job. Still, lots of work to do but I got you covered. 

What to wear?

Dress as feminine as possible. Wear a nice form fitting dress, not too short, not too tight, not too much boobage, think Princess Kate. On this day, you’re not dressing for him, you’ll be dressing for his mum or sister or grandma, you get my drift. If there is no female presence in the family then you don’t want his dad or brothers perving over you so do try to be a little bit more conservative but still feminine. Do your hair and make-up like you would for a date. Keep your grooming to the highest of standards. Get a manicure. 

What to say?

Treat this first meeting with the family as if you were on a date zero. Keep quiet, don’t ask questions, only bounce back from what they ask you. Don’t ask the hostess the secret family recipe. Don’t ask them for their telephone numbers or ask them to add you on Facebook. 

What to do? 

Wait and follow his lead always.

What to bring? 

In many cultures, it is traditional that guests bring a little something to the host. Regardless of the culture and what your mother told you, on this occasion you will not bring anything. No flowers, no cooked side dishes, no cake for dessert, no gifts, no card. 

If his mother expects flowers from you, he will get them.

If the family expects a gift, he will buy it in advance.

He will bring the card too and even sign it on your behalf. 

When a man is dating a woman that he considers to be of high value, his dream girl, the love of his life, he will do everything in his power to protect you and to save you from any embarrassment from any of his family members.  He will not leave anything to chance. He wants everything to be perfect. 

All you have to do is show up, look nice, be polite, smile, show appreciation and gratitude, maybe comment on how lovely and cosy the house is, how delicious the food was, thank them and that’s it.
